About
“In a world of music where we need raw new talent, this is the years must see act….” – David Creffield
“Watch out Amy Winehouse!!” – Daily Mirror.
Although a relatively new artist, Livan – a fresh sounding Prog-rock singer/song-writer – has made an instant impact on the live music scene. Based in London they are signed with Pumpkin Music. Songs such as “Scars” and the powerfully worded “Ride to Freedom” have already encapsulated audiences and won many fans in and outside the industry.
When Livan started his band in the summer of 2006 it was intended as a way for him and his mates to bond and have some fun. Little did he know that some two years later he would be creating a huge buzz and building a constantly expanding fan base, and have released two singles and an album to critical acclaim.
The vehicle set out to showcase Livan’s writing and singing began in earnest in 2007. A chance meeting with 6 x platinum producer David Creffield left the band in no doubt that they should take it more seriously. The man behind Embrace and Kaiser Chiefs loved the anthemic choruses and Livan’s unique voice and phrasing. David Creffield is an industry veteran, who made 6 platinum records with Embrace, he also introduced the Kaiser Chiefs to the world. Creffield is one of the production team that has been hand picked to make the Livan sound the unique and inspiring cauldron that it is.
The first single “ Life Is Smiling “ is an infectious pop ditty. Produced by “Skye” collaborator & co-writer John Robertson, it is a tasteful introduction to the Livan sound.
“Dave Bascombe” is another prestigious addition to the Livan team. He is the man mixing the Livan project. With an impressive CV, from his groundbreaking work with Tears for Fears to his present day muses Linkin Park, Livan’s mixer has provided a musical sound bite that is unprecedented in the pop culture.
The musical sojourn wouldn’t be complete without a mention of our final production team “Bacon and Quarmby” the crème de la crème of production duos. Bowie, Marley, John Meyer, The Pretenders and Kate Walsh are among many of the acts that Bacon and Quarmby have produced. The Livan project has the best possible producers and engineers, ensuring a quality and standard that is definitely premier league material.
Summer 2007 was spent playing London venues, with shows at the Clapham Grand, Water Rats and Dingwalls to name but a few. The album and first single were started, culminating in the release of ‘Life Is Smiling’ – the first Livan single – on the 14th April, which is still collecting rave reviews and airplay all over Europe. An infectious pop ditty that shows off Livan’s unique vocal style to the full.
Summer 2008 has seen Livan gigging up and down the country, impressing reviewers, industry people and collecting more fans, showing they can really cut it live. Livan has been doing acoustic sets on BBC Radio and TV shows and took part in the ‘T for `Tibet’ campaign, along with Jeremy Irons and Amanda Donahoe.
What’s next you may ask? With a rapidly expanding fan base and attracting a lot of interest within the industry, the project is poised for lift off. The second single “If Only” a powerfully emotive track and the long awaited debut album “Democricy“ came out at the beginning of August 2008 and are causing quite a stir and receiving great reviews.
